SMBL Sun Shirt Review by Pinkbike | Graphene Sun Hoodie

As featured in Pinkbike

"Sun shirts are a pretty underrated piece of kit to have in the repertoire. I've used them for everything from a base layer in the fall to a sun protection kit while covering Red Bull Rampage.

The SMBL sun shirt has a graphene-infused layer, which is a new technology we're seeing more of. Graphene is said to have many useful properties, but in terms of a sun hoodie, the big ones are its superior thermoregulation, durability, odour protection, and UV protection.

SMBL offers a simple collection of outdoor technical gear with generally subdued styling. Their sun shirt is a smart, feature-packed, lightweight layer meant for long efforts in direct sun, wind, and variable conditions. Their stated goal was to solve a specific problem: most sun hoodies work well at rest but fall apart under movement.

The material on the sun shirt feels very nice against the skin. It's got a bit of structure to it, almost a thin windbreaker feel, but it definitely breathes more than a shell. It does a good job of regulating temperatures and, most importantly, blocking out those harsh sun rays. The adjustable hood snap is a nice touch, and the thumb loops are great for keeping things in place."
